DESIGNING YOUR PANTRY
WHAT IS ITS FUNCTION
After discussing the Kitchen and Dining areas of your home, the PANTRY seems like the most natural area to discuss next.
This can be a challenging area to design because PANTRIES come in all shapes and sizes!
In this article, we are going to discuss how your pantry needs to function for your family.
Below are some functions to think about.

FOOD STORAGE:
What does food storage look like for your family?
Do you need a large space for food storage, or will a small space do?
Do you like open shelving, or want everything enclosed in cabinets?
While we are not cabinet designers, these questions can help us determine the amount of space needed for your food storage.
APPLIANCE STORAGE:
Where do you plan to store your small kitchen appliances?
Things like slow cookers, toasters, blenders, and more can quickly take over your counter space and cabinets in the kitchen. This can quickly create full cabinets and / or a cluttered kitchen countertop!
The pantry can be a GREAT place to store these items!
COFFEE / BEVERAGE STATION:
Sometimes clients don’t want a coffee / beverage station out in the open, but want it hidden in the pantry. Think about if that is something you are interested in.
If you do choose to include this. Think about what you need in your beverage station? Plumbing, coffee maker, ice maker, refrigerator, excetera?
SCULLERY:
Some families cook so much that they need a 2nd set of kitchen appliances. Instead of overwhelming the main kitchen with more ovens, refrigerators, and freezers, we often put these extra appliances in the pantry.
Other clients want to keep the “mess” out of sight and have a place they can do the “dirty” work while keeping the main kitchen clean for guests. In either instance, a SCULLERY is the pantry you!
