AdminRoom by Room Design Discussions

This time of the year is the perfect time to discuss Porches and Outdoor Spaces!

Options for these areas are almost unlimited! From Screened Porches and Firepits,
to Putting Greens and Pools, outdoor spaces designed for your entertainment needs
can be a BIG part of your home design.

Below are some of the most common items we discuss with our clients:

  • PORCHES
      • Covered
      • Screened
      • Unscreened
      • Uncovered
  • OUTDOOR KITCHENS
      • Grilling Space
      • Gas Grill
      • Green Egg / Kamado
      • Dining Space
  • FIREPLACES / FIRE PITS
      • Wood / Gas
      • Seating Area
      • How many?
  • POOLS/ HOT TUBS
      • Size
      • Features
  • SPORTS
      • Tennis / Pickle Ball
      • Basket Ball
      • Putting Greens

After taking time to consider each of these items, discuss what will fit your family’s
wants and needs. Once you know the outdoor spaces you would like, think about
layouts you feel would work best.

SITE PLANNING

Once we know the outdoor spaces your family wants, we will start developing a site
plan to accommodate those spaces.
To do so, we will need to know which areas should have direct access to the home.
Often, it is the outdoor kitchen, a pool bath, and / or the living room.
Since these access points are very important and directly connected with the
home’s floor plan, they will be considered from the beginning of the design process.

SPECIAL NOTE

We are not pool designers, outdoor kitchen experts, or experts in sports courts.
Your contractor will work with specialized companies and experts for these specific
areas. The purpose of the site plan, however, is to account for the required space
needed for each area.
Knowing the wanted pool / court sizes, equipment needs, and appliances in the
outdoor kitchen are very important for us to know so we can ensure we have
enough space for each area.
Our goal in designing outdoor spaces is to ensure that there’s enough space for
each area and that the layout is an extension of your home and flows in a way that
works for your family.
